House concerts offer a unique opportunity for people to come together and enjoy an intimate concert in the comfort of a private home, surrounded by friends and other people with like interests. They also help people get to know each other and make new friends, and they offer the opportunity to hear and meet great musicians in a relaxed, casual setting. What could be better than that?
When I decided to start hosting some house concerts of my own, I faced a dilemma -- I have a tiny home. Over time, it dawned on me that I have a large back yard that people really enjoy, so my conniving mind eventually convinced me to build a covered stage ... and that led us to where we are today.
The Backyard Stage is not a commercial venue and is not open to the general public — it is a private party in my back yard for family, neighbors, friends, and friends of friends to relax and enjoy some good music and support local artists. It is very important to me that the artists get paid for their work, and the suggested donation is $10-20 per person. All of the donations go directly to the artists. The host does not accept donations — the Backyard Stage is my gift to you.
If you would like to attend but don’t know me yet, shoot me a message through the below link and introduce yourself. I like meeting new people, and I will respond with more information about the location, etc. Please also read the “etiquette” page so you’ll better know what to expect when you visit.
I look forward to seeing you!
